Basketball is called second religion in Lithuania, so it is not surprising that a lot of basketball playgrounds are renovated and new playgrounds are built.

Historically, the sport halls had wooden floors. Still wood remains the most popular surface for closed basketball playgrounds, although currently there is large selection of synthetic flooring available in the marketplace. Synthetic flooring offers good price-quality ratio, wear resistance, and versatility; it is very good for school sports halls. Both wood and synthetic coatings can be permanent or mobile.

International Basketball Federation (FIBA) specifies what flooring should be on the courts where international matches are held. More about FIBA specifications can be found on FIBA competition levels.

For outdoor basketball courts most often synthetic surfaces are used. Such surface can be prefabricated sheets that are glued on site, or special mix that is spread on site with paving machine. Such surfaces are becoming more popular because not only basketball but other sports, like tennis, volleyball, and handball can be played on them. Here you can read more - universal playgrounds.

JSC "Fortera" has accumulated a lot of experience in inside as well as outside basketball court flooring installation. We have installed KÄ—dainiai sport school basketball hall, where Lithuanian championship competitions are held, a lot of basketball courts in schools, private holdings, and rural tourism farms.
